Tintype study collection rehousing
I took on the rehousing of this part of the Garman Art Conservation Department's study collection to learn more about best practices for tintype storage and to improve access to the collection for future students.

Before rehousing
The tintypes were being stored in layers of folded tissue within paper envelopes. They were difficult to study and cumbersome to re-wrap.

After rehousing
Each tintype has a custom sink mat within a thin tuxedo box to accommodate the planar deformation seen in many of the plates. The boxes are labeled with the object number on one edge and stored with the number visible. A finding aid with thumbnails of the imagery is also available inside the overall storage box.
